TECHNICAL

Technical Information

The Touring Car Masters Series is run with technical regulations, as approved by CAMS, comprising touring cars of the pre-1974 era which have been modified in accordance with the CAMS Touring Car Masters technical regulations to maintain a similar appearance to the touring cars of the period.

The technical regulations are borne out of four key technical principles:
+ Safety
+ Cost reduction
+ Reliability
+ Competitive racing

As a result, there are technical allowances for up to date passive safety equipment and sensible technical variations to allow for race schedules, replacement of obsolete components, performance restrictions, individual performance adjustments and up to date active safety components such as brakes.

Series technical development is overseen by the Technical Advisory Panel (TAP) which is made up from representation from two members of the Series Licence Holders Association, two Series Directors and an independent Chairman.

Seeded Drivers

Seeded Drivers are those that are 'professional drivers' and/or have won the outright series title in the past two years. If any competitor wins the outright round points for two successive rounds, they too will become classified as a Seeded Driver.

Those included as Seeded Drivers for the start of the 2012 season are: Jim Richards, Gavin Bullas, John Bowe, Glenn Seton and Andrew Miedecke. The Seeded Driver list will be reviewed periodically, but no less than prior to the commencement of each season.

A vehicle driven by a Seeded Driver will be subject to the following performance adjustments.

The purpose of these fine tuning adjustments is to further improve the intensity and entertainment value of the Touring Car Masters series for the nearly 1 million spectators that eatch the races each year, and the additional 2 million viewers who watch the televised broadcasts.
